Logic Net® was specifically designed to meet the most demanding kitchen system requirements. Logic Net® was originally designed to IBM's restaurant system specifications and was subsequently OEMed by IBM. It is a cost-effective solution because it requires no PC workstations, no network hubs, no network adapters or interface cards, and no network software.
The world's largest and best restaurant companies have adopted Net® for its high reliability, secure network features, compact size and proven track record. Logic NetR is supported by leading software vendors supplying kitchen system software including Aloha, EXIT41, FuturePOS, Positive Solutions, Positouch, Progressive Software, SIVA, System3 POS and others.
Logic Net® is comprised of the LM3000 Series control modules and LS3000 Series I/O workstations. The LM3000 control module is attached to the server via an ethernet, serial or USB connection, and up to 16 LS3000 I/O workstations are in turn connected to the LM3000 control module. A zero single-point-of-failure configuration is also supported.
Logic Net®, originally designed to IBM specifications, is a highly reliable computer network system ideal for many dedicated applications in industries such as kitchen and factory automation. This new network system replaces the PC's at each workstation with a small rugged module. The Logic Stations (LS3000) are connected together and to the Logic Master (LM3000) by a RS485 multi-drop cable loop. The LM3000 can be connected to the server via RS232, USB or ethernet interface. With ethernet interface, the LM3000 is IP addressable.
In a typical Logic Net® system, one PC, through a single LM3000 master module, can control up to 16 remote LS3000 modules. Each LS3000 in turn drives a multitude of peripheral devices such as VGA monitor, keyboard, and peripherals with a serial interface, to make a complete workstation. Logic Controls' patented interface technology enables a single LS3000 module to drive a large number of peripherals without any added hardware. Each LS and LM module is housed in a small rugged die cast case, measuring only 5"L x 6"W x 1"H.

To implement a fully operational Logic Net® system, three contributing technologies (consisting of Interface Technology, Software Development Tools, and LM/LS modules) are crucial.
Interface Technology
Logic Net's interface technology is comprised of 3 types of interfaces; the server, Ne work, and peripheral-device interface.

» Server Interface:
LM3000 module with optional RS232, ethernet, or USB connections links to a regular PC or server's COM port.

» Net work Interface:
The modules are configured in a looped connection path, utilizing RS485 communication between the LM3000 and LS3000s. This design configuration reflects enhanced operation, by reducing the main computer house keeping functions, typical of non-UNIX based systems.

» Peripheral-Device Interface:
From the LS3000 module, Logic Controls' patented Daisy Chain technology allows a wide array of keyboard-wedge based devices to connect to a single Keyboard Input port while the pass-thru technology connects a multitude of serial-based devices to the RS232C Peripheral Device Output port. Due to Logic Controls' patented peripheral interface technology, a single LS3000 module is able to drive numerous peripheral devices.
The server and network interface in combination with Logic Net®'s peripheral-device interface provides system performance levels that exceed conventional network performance.
LM/LS Modules
In a typical Logic Net® system, one PC, through a single LM3000 master module, can control up to 16 remote LS3000 modules. Each LS3000 in turn drives a multitude of peripheral devices to make a complete workstation. Logic Controls' patented interface technology enables a single LS3000 module to drive a large number of peripherals without any added hardware.

» The LM3000 module connects to a regular PC or server's COM port with a data transfer rate of 115,200 baud (models with optional ethernet or USB connections available). It controls the communications protocol between the application software and the I/O stations (LS3000 modules), thus minimizing slow communication overhead.

» The LS3000 module is the most important element of Logic Net®. It provides both front and back-end functions. The front-end function communicates with the LM3000 while the back-end function drives a multitude of peripheral devices.
Software Development Tool
Logic Net® uses a proprietary set of programming instructions, which the application software evokes to communicate with the remote work stations, to accomplish its desired function/tasks. Logic Net® utilizes internal upgradeable firmware to guard against obsolesce and capture any product improvements with downloadable upgrades. Provided with Logic Net® are High Level Language Programming and Development Tools. A Logic Net System Dynamic - Link Library is provided for Visual Basic and C/C++. The library can be run under Windows 95/98/2000/XP, and can be easily called into V.B. or C++.
