An application created using MCL-Designer generates MCL source code, which is an interpreted language. All MCL generated code requires MCL-Runtime in the Symbol terminals to execute the MCL application.

The MCL-Runtime can be downloaded and installed on to a Symbol Terminal prior to purchasing the software; it will simply run in demo mode until it is Activated. In demo mode, the terminal fully executes your MCL application without any functionality restrictions. However, a window is randomly displayed indicating that MCL is not "Activated", and is running in Demo mode. To continue with the demo application the user simply presses the OK button. The display frequency of this message window increases for the duration that the terminal is used in Demo mode.

MCL-Runtimes are terminal specific and work with either MCL-Loader, Activesync or HotSync to load them into your Symbol terminal.

• MCL-Runtimes for Palm? 1500, 1700 and 1800 Series Terminals requires HotSync on your computer to load the MCL-Code Interpreter in your terminal.
• MCL-Runtimes for DOS 3000, 6000, 7200 DOS Series Terminals requires MCL-Loader on your computer to load the MCL-Code Interpreter in your terminal.
